No Logic

1 Corinthians 15-1:34 “Do not be misled: bad company corrupts good character. Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning: For there are some who are ignorant of GOD.”

Paul spends all of chapter 15 talking about resurrection, the resurrection of Christ and the resurrection of the dead. He does this because the people he is visiting, writing to, working with,… the people around him are hearing conflicting stories, they are “faithful”, but not sure of who or whom to follow.

Wow! Luckily we, you and I, don’t have that problem... conflicting stories. Right!

Understanding, then following makes sense for us… it’s logical, but the truth is, GOD isn’t logical! GOD doesn’t love us if we change, GOD loves us… and basking in his love… (like a daffodil opening up and turning toward the sun as it comes up) we change because of the love GOD has in us.

Paul warns us in 1 Corinthians 15:33-34 “Do not be misled: bad company corrupts good character. Come back to your senses as you ought and stop sinning: For there are some who are ignorant of GOD.”

Today (in this period of Lent) you may want to step back and reevaluate. What company do you keep? Is it loving? Is it supportive? And, as Paul says after evaluating your company… come to your senses and choose where and how you want to go, because… there are some who are ignorant of GOD! :)

If you feel trapped, if the world around you looks desolate or full of pain and anguish, strife or worry, then do what Neil Young says in his song “Don’t Let It Bring You Down” and “Find someone who’s turning and you will come around.” Like the daffodil in the sun, find someone who is turning to the light and follow them… and you will come around. Go ahead! Make the change! GOD is with you and in you and surrounds you! He is not waiting for you to change to love you! He loves you as you are so you can choose to change… so go ahead you are being supported and loved… the light is warm!

Precious Father, Loving God, Holy Spirit I pray in the midst of this world I am not misled. Help me to find in myself and in those around me the strength to follow you, the strength to turn toward the light and reflect your love to those around me. AMEN!
