No Excuses

‘Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
and before you were born I consecrated you;
I appointed you a prophet to the nations.’
Then I said, ‘Ah, LordGod! Truly I do not know how to speak, for I am only a boy.’
Jeremiah 12:5

On Sunday, Pastor Dave continued his sermon series on Jeremiah. The title of the sermon was “Known Before We Were Born,” focusing on the text Jeremiah 1:5-19.

Some questions to help you reflect on Sunday’s sermon-

· Do you begin spiritual formation when you are with God? What does it mean to you that God knew you from before you were born?

· Have you spent sufficient time studying and reflecting on this God who has known you before you saw daylight? The more we know another the better we can converse and relate. Do you most often ask “Why did this happen?” or “What is God up to in this?”

· When teams are picked in life were you ever left out, or did you watch another be left out? How did you react? Ponder the words of Eugene Peterson, “No one enters into existence as a spectator.”

· Jeremiah’s excuse was “He was just a boy…” Jeremiah 1:6. What’s your excuse to not more fully embrace the way of God? What does God want you to do about it?
