New Direction

Dear Worriers,

In Luke 1:46-56, Mary gives us the sacred words of the “Magnificat".  If you are worried about the world as it is, Mary tells us to not waste time fretting.  The Christ Child is coming who will turn the world upside down.  All fears that the world is not going the right direction can be tossed aside.  Jesus has a new direction for us all.

In a poem, Wendell Berry portrays someone tossing and turning in worry.  Then the person comes to the realization that his worry counts for little:  “Let tomorrow come tomorrow.  Not by your will is the house carried through the night.” (Wendell Berry, “What Are People For”)

In these dark days of December, fear little.  Let us each hold to the faith of the light that is coming in the child named Jesus.  For those who feel stuck in a rut, Mary the mother of this child who's to come promises all things will be turned upside-down and made new.

This Sunday we welcome our brother Brad Corrigan.  He will update us on our mission partner, Love light and Melody and the mission we share partnering with this Jesus who flips the world upside down from Nicaragua to Pine Ridge, South Dakota and to Denver and back again!

Still in one peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen
