Nature Reveals

How do you feel God? How do you touch God? How do you hear God? How do you smell God?

When I am feeling bombarded with messages of fear, uncertainty and doubt, I need to feel, touch, hear, smell and See God! And to do that, I go to nature. God’s creation is the very picture and image of God.

When I was recently in Nicaragua, the climate seemed to truly put me in touch with the very real, physical presence of God. The heat, the humidity, the fertile plants and trees....God seems to be more present in tropical climes. It occurred to me that is why people who seem to have little, in our eyes, also appear to be more in touch with the joy of the Lord.

Wednesday evening, I had the opportunity to do Being Church with a group of people who had gathered in the park to pray. We recognized God’s presence amidst the very real grass, trees, and lovely breeze. A group of geese wandered over, but after seeing we had no food to share, wandered off. The few clouds and the sunset with many colors enveloped us in love and grace. We reflected on past experience in nature and intentionally remembered God’s presence at that time. Fear, uncertainty and doubt were nowhere to be found. What a gift!

May we recall that God is as close as nature. Psalm 148- Praise the Lord....

God bless you,
