More Joy

It seems that some words just sound like what they are; itchy, stuck, reverent, flabbergasted. But what about the word joy? It just seems to sit there on the page; a little flat, a little small.  I've been thinking a lot about that word lately.  What it means, how often I actually feel it, looking for evidence of it in others.  I'm not around young kids very often so the place I see it the most is in my dog! Pick up her ball or leash and joy is evident in her whole body- eyes, ears, posture.  The Bible speaks to me about joy and I read in the Psalms about being "filled with joy" and "singing for joy" but how evident is it in my life?  My dog does a better job of demonstrating joy than I do!

I looked up and read some verses about joy in the Psalms.  16:11, 51:12, 66:1, 94:19, 100:1 and 126:3 just to list a few. So this week, I'm going to focus on and memorize Psalm 51:12.  "Restore to me the joy of my salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me".

My prayer is that the God of Joy and the God of my Salvation will work in my heart and awaken a renewed sense of joy and make it evident to those around me.

I just ran into one of my Pastors, Brandon Naramore. He pointed out that any menotin of light in the bible is not going to have the lightbulb in mind, it wasn't invented yet. Any understanding of light is going to have to give fire a more prominent place in describing the analogy. God is light, a fire inside guiding and inspiring our lives towards eternity. Hmmmm awesome.
