Main Event

It’s Holy Week and we are in the midst of the events leading up to Easter - Palm Sunday, followed by Maundy Thursday then by Good Friday. These are great reminders of Christ’s life, passion, crucifixion and death. However, Easter is the Main Event. Easter reminds us that we live in the reality of his resurrection. The empty tomb is an historical fact that no one has ever been able to provide credible evidence to refute. All of Christianity hinges on this actual historical event and what a comfort it is. As Paul says in 1 Corinthians Chapter 15, “And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.”

The empty tomb is why the Sabbath moved from Saturday to Sunday. The empty tomb is why most of the disciples were willing to die as martyrs. This is why we build churches, why we worship, why we do missionary work, why we sing hymns, etc. I can’t wait to see everyone on Sunday morning as we celebrate the Main Event! He is risen. Indeed.
