Loving God Inside and Out

Attention, Israel!
God, our God! God the one and only!
Love God, your God, with your whole heart: love him with all that’s in you, love him with all you’ve got!
Write these commandments that I’ve given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates.
Deuteronomy 6:4-9 The Msg

What does it mean to love God with all that’s in me?  Do I love God when I get up, when I’m at home, when I’m out and about?  What would my life look like

It seems my days begin with thoughts of what’s on the agenda for the day and what the schedule will look like. Then, there are chores to be done in between work.  Going out and about takes concentration, driving and remembering all that needs to be done.  Where is God in all that?  I fear that too often God is there, but I don’t acknowledge God’s presence.  Or, I completely forget God. (Why did that person cut me off? How did I end up in the slowest moving line? What is that item Terry wanted me to pick up?)

I like the idea of having reminders to Love God.  I’ll have to think about how to make that happen.  How would you make “Love God with your whole heart” a visible sign in your life?

Loving God inside and out – through our actions and in our relationships will be the focus of our Super Weekend on February 2nd and 3rd.  We welcome special guest Dr. Dick Hardel for a day’s retreat event on Saturday the 2nd and in worship on the 3rd.  He teaches about being “well” in our faith lives with humor and years of experience in passing on the faith.

God Bless You,
