Love, Light and Melody

Love, Light & Melody (LLM), a non-profit organization,  is dedicated to "battling the physical, emotional, and spiritual affects of extreme poverty fostering a deep sense of belonging by one simple principal -  moving in and sharing in the life and struggles of those they seek to help." Through music and the arts, the organization brings healing to communities struggling with poverty.

LLM was formed in 2007 by musician Brad Corrigan after he was invited to play for a benefit concert and youth rally.  He was introduced to extremes in the country - the elite upper class and severe poverty levels and soon learned that over 220 families lived in Managua's trash dump known as  La Chureca.  After a number of trips to the La Chureca he was inspired by the joy and courage of the residents and LLM was formed. The dump has been home for over 40 years to hundreds of people with countless children fighting to survive a landscape of burning trash, physical and sexual abuse and starvation.  In April 2010, LLM founded a safe house, providing refuge for some of the most at-risk children.

Since 2007 Love, Light and Melody has expanded their ministry into other impoverished communities in the United States - Sun Valley Youth Center in Denver and Pine Ridge Reservation in Oglala, South Dakota.

GGCC supports LLM with monetary donations to be used where there is a need.  Last year $7,500 was raised that went toward recently purchasing a van that is used for transportation in the La Chureca community to further carry out their mission. Six missionaries served in Nicaragua in March of 2011 and three in July 2011. Chick here for March pictures.  Click here for July pictures. Another trip to Nicaragua is being planned for the end of April. Be watching for more details.

Last summer our own missionary Amanda Jensen served at the Safehouse in Nicaragua.  Click here to check out the movie from her trip.
