Lost and Desireable

Dear Lost ,

“For the Son of Man came to seek out and save the lost.” Luke 19:10

I am in Milwaukee with Char Jacobs, Steve Koerwitz and 10 GGCC youth. It is always one of the finest weeks of my year. The theme of the week is “Desirable.” As Luke 19 says, Jesus believes we are of value and it is his desire to search us out, track us down and claim us as his own. If our youth can hear the call of Jesus to enter anew into that promise, they will have mastered what few followers of the Lord have ever grasped with conviction.

Jesus' great passion is for the lost, those pushed to the margins, those who fail to live up to the standards of the good and the just. Jesus seeks the lost and the lost seek him. Will we, in our missional community and in the global church, welcome the lost that Jesus welcomes?

Lord, help us to keep going out, to keep expecting you to lead us into places outside the church. Lord, when you seek and find some of the lost, help us to be a church with a big enough heart to open wide our door and to welcome them as your cherished children and our sisters and brothers.

Pray for our group of 13 lost children of God, en route, to and from Milwaukee. May we be found once more and redeemed as God’s own. Let us also pray for the neighbor next door and the heart within that sometimes questions it's value and worth. For the Creator has made us with intention and purpose. Jesus promises to never let us be until we realize our sacred value. We are each Desirable, thanks be to God!

Still in one peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen
