Lord Have Mercy

Dear Mourners,

We are in a unique time in history in terms of the racial unrest in our culture. Violence has struck in Minnesota, Texas, Louisiana, Chicago, France,  on and on. Lord have mercy.

As followers of Jesus we are called to  seek unity and to value all races. The work of God is the calling of all people , whether in the Old Testament or the New Testament. Men and women are called together to a new wholeness which is itself the work of God, which gives meaning to history. Our Creator's call supersedes racial division and calls us to see all people as family.

A couple of quotes that have helped me in recent  days are :

“Hope says , the reality of  present data does not determine the future.” Dr Walter Bruegemann

“Keep in mind that the love of God always bats last.” Anne Lamott

For further reflection on God’s presence in our brokenness see the books of Job and Ecclesiastes.

Prayers: For peace, compassion, and understanding of those whose race is different than our own.

Still in one peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen
