Looking for God

Life has all kinds of opportunities for twists and turns. Sometimes it seems like there is very little guidance in the decisions we make or the paths we take. I am at a point in my life where I must choose between two roads and all I can think about is the Robert Frost poem. I know that there is a lot of support with my friends, family, and community, but you never really know for sure what that path holds at the end. Sometimes that path is the best option for you and everyone else but you are too worried about the journey and too comfortable in your own way of life. But God is there along the path. He may not be giving you the most obvious signals or directions but he is there making sure the path is never too steep and he makes sure you find the end.

I think that I often take the comfortable path because I am too nervous for what the future will hold. I get comfortable and adjust to being mediocre and grey. Finally I took the road less traveled by and I trusted that everything was going to be okay, or hoped it would be better. The excitement for new opportunities and hope has already changed me to be a happier person and seek more beauty in life and I am looking for God more often.

The alternative path does not always have to be a huge life decision, most of the time it can just be deciding to help somebody with an everyday task or giving some helpful advice to someone in a time of need. I always try to challenge someone else to look around and search for God in my devotions. So this week I ask everyone to look for God in an area that you never would have before. Pursue him and listen to what he has to say. You never know, It could lead you down the right path.

God Bless,

Brooks R. Jacobs
