Living Testimony

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

When Aleksandr Solzenitsyn was awarded the Noble Prize in literature, he concluded his speech by quoting a Russian Proverb: “One word of truth outweighs the whole world.” If I could change a couple of words in that proverb,  I would say , "One person of truth impacts the whole world.” (Quoted in Swindoll's Ultimate Book of Illustrations and Quotations, Nashville : Thomas Nelson Publishers,pg. 589.)

As Jesus prepared to physically leave the earth, he prayed to his Heavenly Father , “I glorified you on earth by completing down to the last detail what you assigned me to do.” ( John 17:1-11 “The Message”) Jesus' words are of truth. No person had ever, nor will ever, impact the world as Jesus did and does. All other human beings have fallen short of “perfectly glorifying the Father.”

On Sunday we will celebrate the professional ministry career of Nancy Nickoley at God’s Grace Community Church (GGCC). I certainly hope you plan to participate in the day’s festivities. Though all of us fall short of the glory of God and rely on Jesus' mercy to live in relationship with our Heavenly Father. That does not mean we don’t have some living Saints such as Nancy Nickoley whose walk of faith is a living testimony to the gospel of Jesus Christ. She has served our congregation with integrity, professional expertise, and humility. Her humility is what perhaps stands out the most for me. As the Administrative Minister of GGCC much of her work has been behind the scenes, hidden from the applause of other people. Nancy Nickoley’s motivation to serve has come from within, as she serves Jesus the Christ who has claimed her heart. In that truth there is a living witness for us all. Thanks be to God!

Keep Nancy, Paul and their family in your prayers during this time of transition. May God continue to bless them for the journey ahead, that they might continue to be witness of the truth that impacts the world for Jesus Christ.

Still in one peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen
