Living in the Moment

“What if the point from the beginning has been to simply be.” – Unknown

I’m a huge sucker for quotes, period. I happened to stumble upon this one the other day and it really stuck with me.

Last week, I got the opportunity to see Rob Bell speak in Boulder (a convenient 5 minute drive for me :), but Rob has been a huge part of my spiritual past, he was basically all I read through high school in terms of Christian Writing. Hearing him speak was fabulous, as I am sure all of you have heard already, but they talked about being in the moment and asking yourself what do I need in this moment?

This week, I have been so stressed with things that just seem to be thrown onto my plate, finals coming up, summer jobs, and a social life? I actually don’t even know how it all seems to work out, but I’ve started to come across why all of this happens. I believe that it doesn’t matter what you’re doing or what is on your plate, the point of this whole crazy “life” thing is to just be. I am challenging myself within the next few weeks to only focus on the moment I am in. I am going to stop looking into the future and hoping things work out, or hoping that I can take on one more job that I really want to this summer, to stop worrying about my finals and focus on who I am, what I am doing, what do I need right now, and how can I just be. I think just “be-ing” will teach me to be open to the future and not trying to plan out every detail.

So as I leave you all on this Friday, I hope you have an amazing weekend, and try to just be, because what you are is really all you have, so you better be enjoying the moments.
