Live for Today

He opened his wife's underwear drawer and picked up a silk paper wrapped package. He unwrapped the box and

stared at both the silk paper and the box. "She got this the first time we went to New York, 8 or 9 years ago. She never put it on. She was saving it for a special occasion. Well, I guess this is it." He got near the bed and placed the gift box next to the other clothing he was taking to the funeral home.

Never save something for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion.

Strive to:
Understand that life is an experience to be lived up to, not survived through.
Read more and clean less.
Sit on the porch without worrying about anything.
Spend more time with family, and less time at work.
Don’t keep anything for later. Use crystal glasses (and your good china) every day.
Wear new clothes to go to WalMart.

Don't save special perfume for special occasions - use it whenever you want. Let the words "someday" and "one day" fade away from your dictionary. If it's worth seeing, listening or doing, see it, listen or do it now. Call your relatives and closest friends. Make peace over past quarrels. Go out for Chinese, or whatever food is your favorite. It's the small things…

"One of these days is today".

Do not delay or postpone or keep anything that could bring laughter and joy into some ones life to yourself. And each morning, say to yourself that this could be a special day..

Each day, each hour, each minute, is special.

James 4:13-17 - “Look here, you people who say, "Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit." How do you know what will happen tomorrow? For your life is like the morning fog – it's here a little while, then it's gone. What you ought to say is, "If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that." Otherwise you will be boasting about your own plans, and all such boasting is evil. Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.”

Amen. Carole Schumacher
