Lifting Up Our Sr. High Youth

Ephesians 1:11-13:  In him we were also chosen,[e] having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,  in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.

This week our senior high youth have set aside a week of their lives to specifically live out the purpose of God’s will. They have travelled to Chicago and are sleeping on hard floors, spending time with people they do not know, and listening to the stories of those who so desperately crave the attention of a loving heart. I give thanks for their commitment and their devotion to the call to serve others.

Dear God, please watch over our youth as they venture into a week of servitude. Help them see the wonders of their good deeds. Bless the adult leaders traveling with them as well. Give them patience and strength to be an excellent leader. We pray for meaningful Bible study in their small group time. Provide courage and willingness to try new things. Perhaps they will also find that spending a week away from friends and family, and adapting to a different life style is actually a fun way to carry out Your Word and help serve others. Amen

Ephesians 2:8-10 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.  For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
