Last Supper

Today is Maundy Thursday. The day in Holy  Week we remember Jesus washed the feet of the disciples and shared the Last Supper with them.

We read Exodus 12:1-14; John 13:1-35; and 1 Corinthians 11:23-26. Exodus to hear how the Passover meal was instituted. John to hear the story of the foot washing and Jesus' new command (mandate-->Maundy). And, from Paul in 1 Corinthians Jesus' words at the Last Supper.

We consider God's saving grace for God's people all the way back to the time of Moses. We reflect on humble service. We remember Jesus' words to "do this" (eat & drink) to remember him. The story includes betrayal, denial and the face of humanity meeting God.

Leonardo da Vinci's famous painting of the Last Supper gives us an opportunity to use a visual cue to remember the story.

Where are you in the story? How do you betray Jesus?

We'll be serving and gathering around a table for worship in the world. We'd love to have you join us. Get details here. Join us for Good Friday worship here. Learn about da Vinci's painting here. Pray the Daily Texts with us here
