Larger Plan

Dear Accomplishers,

Thanks to each of you who helped with the Confluence fundraiser event THE POWER of ONE, last Sunday night. To Vikki Luce and her team for their strategic gifts, Claudia Larson and her logistical team, Jude and Cindy Del Hierro and the Confluence team for a large vision, Gary Corbett’s gift of auctioneering, Maureen Shul for her compassionate counsel, Peter and Brendan Mayer who spoke God's word through song, and to each of you who prayed and offered financial support. At this time it appears the net income for Confluence will go over $30,000. Thank you, to each of you, who served in Christ's name to accomplish this wonderful work.

As great as Sunday night was, the reality is that even our greatest accomplishments are just a faithful small portion of God's larger plan.

Two of my companions for the journey, Terry Hershey and Peter Mayer, shared the same quote with me in the last 24 hours. I assume that coincidence has divine significance.

“Nothing worth doing is completed in our lifetime; therefore we must be saved by hope. Nothing true or beautiful makes complete sense in any immediate context of history; therefore we must be saved by faith. Nothing we do, however virtuous, can be accomplished alone; therefore, we are saved by love.”  Reinhold Niebuhr

We are partners in the gospel with the saints who have gone before us, those around us, and those who are to come. We were not designed to accomplish anything great by our self. Thanks be to God!

Prayers: For Terry Hershey who will preach at GGCC this weekend, and who will teach next Monday night October 17th at Dave and Amy Jensen’s home ( ALL ARE WELCOME), those effected by hurricane Matthew, the coming election, those who are sick, all who mourn Carole L. Waddell as GGCC will provide leadership at her graveside service tomorrow at Fort Logan cemetery at 11:30am.

See John 9 for further reflection.

Still in One Peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen
