Knock Me Down

Acts 9:1-25

Acts 9:4 “He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”

It would be easier for me if GOD would knock me to the ground. Instead I am left with questions on how to love, how to know GOD!

We have to be careful when we think we are doing GOD’s work. Certainly Saul thought he was doing GOD’s work when he went to the high priest asking for letters to the synagogues in Damascus. Paul was sure he was doing the work of GOD, as did the establishment of his time.

Anne Lamott says “You can safely assume you’ve created GOD in your own image when it turns out that GOD hates the same people you do.”

So how do we know when we are on the correct path? We can learn from Ananaias. First, question GOD, we are allowed and I believe GOD wants us to question him. Acts 9:13 “Lord, Ananaias answered, I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to the saints in Jerusalem. And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name. But the Lord said to Ananaias, GO!”

I look at this in simple terms. If you believe you are following GOD and it is a mission to hurt people, then maybe you should stop, drop, and pray, question GOD. If you believe you are following GOD and it is a mission to heal, to feed, to help… then GO!

May GOD speak to you and may you hear the word of GOD as you seek to learn and to love, as you seek to follow GOD.

May you find Love, Peace, and Presence on your journey.
