Just Pray

Praying – for others, for world events, for ourselves. There’s a lot to pray for.

We learn a lot about prayer from Jesus. Jesus took time to pray. Jesus went away to pray. Jesus taught about prayer. Jesus prayed for himself. Jesus prayed for others in need of healing. Jesus prayed for the city. Jesus prayed when times were difficult. Jesus prayed for his disciples. Jesus prayed a lot.

Sometimes we think we don’t know how to pray or that there is a certain way we must pray. We can think that we’re not doing it right, especially if it seems that our prayers are not answered. We give up pretty easily. We look at the short term and skip the big picture.

I wonder why we make prayer so difficult.

Prayer was part of the rhythm of Jesus’ days and it was intertwined within his days. He sometimes stopped what he was doing to pray, but often he prayed in the midst of what he was doing.

Let’s not make prayer difficult or rigid or formatted or foreign. Let’s just pray. For ourselves, for others, for the world.

We’ll be looking for you tomorrow at 9:00 or 10:30 as we gather to pray, worship, thank, praise, ask, listen and be in relationship.

Grace and peace,

Vikki
