Just As We Are

You are enough.

In preparing for a series of training sessions for an upcoming women's leadership conference, I reread some of Brené Brown's work around Daring Greatly(2012). In it, she speaks about being enough. What a profound opposition to thinking about scarcity. Instead, she reminds us, "The opposite of 'never enough' isn't abundance or 'more than you could ever imagine.' The opposite of scarcity is enough. Say this mantra aloud to yourself. I am enough. I have enough. I am enough.

What Brené reminded us is to be content with what you have, how you look, and what you are. God loves us just as we are. We are, enough. Scripture reminds us to be content with all we have in life. In Matthew 6: 25-26 God says, 25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

Instead of chasing the next quick fix or yearning for more, just be content with being enough.

May you find peace in what you offer. You are enough, in God's eyes.
