Joy

Be still, and the world is bound to turn herself inside out to entertain you. Everywhere you look, joyful noise is clanging to drown out quiet desperation. – Barbara Kingsolver

Joy can be hard to find. In the midst of bad news, worse news and more bad news what’s there to be joyful about?

Mary, the mother of our Lord and her cousin, Elizabeth, mother of John the Baptist could find themselves being brought down by discouraging news. Mary got pregnant – but not in the normal way. Elizabeth is going to be a really old mom and her husband has become mute.

Instead, they find joy in what God is doing in, among and through them.

God is still moving in, among and through us. As we shine love and hope in the midst of pain and darkness. When we are there for one another. When we care for our planet more responsibly. When we see the image of God in the ones who look different. When we stand up for injustice and recognize our own sin.

Joy. It’s not so much about happiness. It’s about trust in God.

We’ll be looking for you tomorrow at 9:00 or 10:30 am as we gather with joy to praise and thank our God for being with us – always.

Grace be with you,

Vikki
