It Might Be Time

Dear Devoted,

“A guy goes to his spiritual master and says, ’My problem is, I’ve been trying to faithfully devote an hour a day to meditation... but my wife and three kids , a demanding job; the kids are up when I awake, and there’s so much going on when I get home, and my wife and I need to spend time together at night. Tell me what I should do.”

The master replies, “Two hours a day.”   --Bo Lozoff,”It’s a Meaningful Life: It Just Takes Practice  (New York :Viking Arkana, 2000)

When was the last time you did an inventory of how you spend your time? It might be time to do that?

In John 21, the disciples are busy with the career of fishing. Jesus comes and interrupts there day, and it literally pays off for them to invest time with him.

If you are too busy to pray and read scripture, keep in mind that is your choice. It might be helpful to give it more time..

See John 21 for further reflection.

Prayers: For our sister congregation Hopewell Baptist near Booneville, Mississippi and Pastor Gabe Jolly III.  We were blessed to have 15 of them with us last weekend and as companions for the journey. Jude, Cindy Delhierro and their family as they mourn the death of Jude’s mother.

The Byrd’s sang about time in their hit song “Turn Turn Turn.”  The words are borrowed from the biblical home of Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.

Still in One Peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen
