Instrument of Peace

Ever feel like things move faster than you do? That for every “one” thing you check off of your “To Do” List two or three more things appear? I think that most feel or have felt this way at some point in life.

As I was reflecting on what to share, the Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi popped into my head:

Make Me an Instrument of Your Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me sow love,

Where there is injury, pardon

Where there is doubt, faith,

Where there is despair, hope,

Where there is darkness, light,

Where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console,

not so much to be understood as to understand,

not so much to be loved, as to love;

for it is in giving that we receive,

it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

it is in dying that we awake to eternal life. --- St. Francis of Assisi

What a beautiful reminder. I LOVE how God shows up (and shows off) at just the right moments. How HE reminds us that this busy fast paced world can still be full of love, faith, hope, light and all of the many other gifts he has given us and wishes for us to share.

This prayer is one of my favorites. Five years ago, I shared this prayer in a devotion. Little did I know then, how true it would continue to be today. May this prayer bring you inspiration and comfort. May it remind you to treat others as you wish to be treated.

Dear God, Thank you for showing up and showing off! We are so Blessed by the many gifts and talents that you have given us. Please help us to grant ourselves grace and the courage to share those gifts with others. May each of us, an instrument, come together to make a beautiful symphony in a world created for love. In your name we pray. Amen.
