In God's Time

“God has made everything beautiful for its own time.

He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people

cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.”

 Ecclesiastes 3:11

Have you ever felt like God was not answering a prayer you might have said requesting a difficult time to be over or for someone to get well? We all have done this and sometimes wonder why our prayers are not answered. God has his own timetable. His plan is established. If we lay down our own sense of timing and willingly take up God’s, we will see doors begin to open, our needs will be met and even small details will begin to fall into place. God’s plan is not to rush us through our troubles. It is to take those troubles and use them to make something beautiful for us. It may be a little while until we see God turn our anger into peace, our weariness into rest, our dread into hope, our loneliness into belonging and our disgrace into honor. The Christian life is not about sorrow and suffering, but about God’s ability to make all things beautiful in His time.

Dear God, I ask for you to help me to be patient. Help me to learn how to ask “What do you want me to learn from this?” Help me to accept your answers even if they are not the answers I want to hear. I pray that my heart will be open to whatever answers you have for me so I can live a Christian life. In your son’s name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
