In God's Presence
My grandma loved the 23rd Psalm. It’s the Psalm reading on the calendar for Sunday. I think it’s the most known Psalm and probably many people know its opening line, “The Lord is my shepherd.”
Grandma gave me a book years ago, A shepherd looks at Psalm 23 by Phillip Keller. It was written in 1970. I appreciate that she would give me books she liked.
The well-known last line in the psalm is, “I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” I like what Keller writes about this phrase in the final words of the book.
There is the wider but equally thrilling awareness of God all around me. I live surrounded by His presence. I am an open person, an open individual, living life open to His scrutiny. He is conscious of every circumstance I encounter. He attends me with care and concern because I belong to Him. And this will continue through eternity. What an assurance!
I shall dwell in the presence (in the care) of the Lord forever.
Bless His Name. ~ page 42
I am grateful for my grandma, my mom, my aunt and the many women who have nurtured my faith. I hope to see you tomorrow as we celebrate women in worship at 9 and 10:30! Angie Jumper, our sister from Booneville, MS will be with us. We’ll be looking for you.
God bless you,
Vikki
