Identity in Christ

Happy New Year’s Eve!

It’s the last day of 2016, a year many are glad to be rid of. A new year gives us an opportunity to take stock, to determine how we might write on the blank pages of 2017.

What is Jesus calling us to in 2017?

That’s the question we need to consider. We can make resolutions, we can make lists, we organize and we can set our intentions. But we forget that we can do anything with Jesus’ mercy and strength and love and forgiveness and peace.

Ann Voskamp writes, “When your identity is in Christ, you identity is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Criticism can’t change it. Failing can’t shake it. Lists can’t determine it. …You are strong enough for what’s coming, because He is.” (The Broken Way, page 185)

And how do we know our identity is in Christ? How will we know what Jesus is calling us to in 2017?

By spending time with him. Bob Goff says, “Be still. God isn’t going to try to shout over all of the noise in our lives.”

May we enter 2017 with a renewed sense of our identity in Christ, times to silence the world so that we can hear and know God’s love and intention to follow Jesus wherever he calls us.

We’ll be looking for you tomorrow at 10:00 am only! Let’s celebrate!

Grace be with you,
