I wait

Psalm 25:5-7

Lead me in your truth, and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
for you I wait all day long.

Be mindful of your mercy, O Lord, and of your steadfast love,
for they have been from of old.
Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
according to your steadfast love remember me,
for your goodness’ sake, O Lord!

It’s Advent and the season of waiting and preparing. We might think we don’t need an “official” season for waiting and preparing. We’ve already got a lot of waiting and preparing to do. And, much of the waiting is forced (have you seen the traffic and the lines lately?)

But we need a gentle reminder that in the midst of the waiting and preparing, the longing and the hoping – that God is with us. We celebrate Jesus who came at Christmas. We remember Jesus is with us now. We hope and long for him to be with us tomorrow and into the future – making all things new.

May we find time to stop and listen for a few moments each day. To hear the still, small voice of our God offering us truth, mercy, forgiveness and love. Maybe we’ll hear it in a song. Perhaps it will come through a scripture verse (see above.) It might be heard in the voice of a loved one. But, have no fear, it’s there.

Come, gather with us, tomorrow at 9:00 or 10:30 am. We’ll worship and praise and remember God’s promises. Face to face, hand to hand is how our community supports one another best.

Grace be with you,
