I Spy

Remember playing the game of “I spy”? You know, one person spots something and says to those playing, “I spy something red.” And everyone has to guess the item.

Jesus often played this game with his disciples. Only instead of things, he spotted people. People that the disciples didn’t usually see; the people that society had made invisible. Like…

  • Children
  • Women
  • Lepers
  • Beggars
  • Widows
  • The poor, the lost, those on the outside

He also saw the rich, the tax collectors, the lawyers and the religious leaders.

What about us? Who do we see? Or, who do we miss? Jesus didn’t miss a thing.

Who are the invisible people in our world?

I could start a list and I bet you can too. Jesus invites – calls us to see these people and to serve them.

Open the eyes of our hearts Lord.

We’ll be looking for you tomorrow at 9:00 or 10:30. It’s better when we gather together, in person, face to face so that we might really see one another.

Grace be with you,
