I Don't Understand

Is it me? Or, is Jesus hard to understand sometimes? I mean he talks in riddles and metaphors and stories that don’t seem to fit our technological world. It can be difficult to comprehend what the heck he’s talking about.

I feel like a big mess of jumbled misunderstandings when it comes to Jesus. One minute I think I’ve got – and the next, I’m completely confused. But does it matter? Do we need to completely understand everything he says? Is that the point?

“Jesus is not repelled by us, no matter how messy we are, regardless of how incomplete we are. When we recognize that Jesus is not discouraged by our humanity, is not turned off by our messiness, and simply doggedly pursues us in the face of it all, what else can we do but give in to his outrageous, indiscriminate love?” – Michael Yaconelli in Messy Spirtuality

One reason I like to gather with other Jesus followers -- whether it’s for worship or over coffee or to pick up trash in an alley or for a house concert – is because together in the relationships that Jesus gives us, I get a better glimpse into what he’s talking about.

We’ll be looking for you tomorrow at 9:00 or 10:30 a.m. to gather and praise this Jesus who loves us regardless of how little we actually understand.

Grace and peace,
Vikki
