Up until Monday, I thought I knew what I wanted to share this month and then out of the blue I received a text message from someone I don't have much contact with anymore. Part of the text message shared the following:
"To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did. When God takes something from your grasp, he's not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something better. Concentrate on this sentence -- The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you ....."
Sound familiar?? Philippians 4:13 -- I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
I don't know about you, but I blinked and September was over, October is moving along just as fast and before we know it, Christmas will be here. While my "To Do" List continues to lengthen, unexpected things in life "pop up" and I reflect on life's lessons in hopes of learning from them, I often wonder how I'm going to take care of everything and get it all done. Just when I think I've got it all figured out, like writing my October devotion, I am reminded that sometimes adjustments are needed and with God in the picture, the possibilities and places we can go are endless. So, the next time you encounter the need for an adjustment, I encourage you to embrace it, for by embracing it, we are preparing ourselves to receive new adventures and gifts from God.
Dear God, Thank you for gracing us with your presence and for giving us the strength to try new things and make adjustments when needed. Please help us to keep our hearts and minds open to receiving your gifts so that we may share with others. Thank you for the people you place in our life who give us a gentle poke to remind us you are there with us every step of the way. Amen.
