How Big?

How big is God?

Have you ever wondered that? How big is God?

Is God bigger than you? Is God bigger than our planet? Is God bigger than the sun?

Is God bigger than your fears and your struggles and your suffering?

Yes!

The Psalmist writes in Psalm 145:5: Our Lord is great, with limitless strength; we’ll never comprehend what he knows and does.

In the books of Moses, Deuteronomy 10:17: God, your God, is the God of all gods, he’s the Master of all masters, a God immense and powerful and awesome.

And Jesus said in Matthew 19:26: Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.

Our God is the great “I am”, the one who is with us. Always. Too often we put God in a box and attribute human characteristics to God. It’s true that we are created in the image of God, but God is not created in our image

God is big. God is great. God is awesome.

Do we live that way?

We gather tomorrow at 10:00 am to celebrate our grand God, to worship, to be together in community, to thank and to hear God speak in our music, in our words and in our hugs. It won’t be the same without you.

Grace be with you,

Vikki

A God unbound by our rules of time has the ability to invest in every person on earth. God has, quite literally, all the time in the world for each one of us. The psalmist exclaimed that "a thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by," and the reverse also applies: to God, one day is like a thousand years. The common question, "How can God listen to millions of prayer at once?" betrays an inability to think outside time. I cannot imagine a being who can hear billions of prayers in thousands of languages because I am stunted by my humanity. Trapped in time, I cannot conceive of infinity. The distance between God and humanity—a distance that no one can grasp—is, ironically, what allows the intimacy. – Philip Yancey in Prayer: Does It Make Any Difference?
