Matthew 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

The Santa suit has been hanging on the door in our lower entry for a couple of weeks now, awaiting the Open Door Christmas party GGCC helps host every year. The tag on the dry cleaning bag is dated January 6, 2016, just a few weeks after last year's party. Every passing glance at that suit is a gentle reminder to me of the fragility of our earthly existence. Stu wore that red suit as he was our Santa for several years. He shared his sweet smile and kind heart with the kids of the Wyatt Academy community and Open Door so genuinely, just as he shared himself with the participants at God's Grace. Stu's "Mrs. Claus" Susan was by his side in life and in the "North Pole" room. We stand with Susan and share her grief since Stu's unexpected passing in August.

When Claudia was looking for a Santa for this year's party, I was quite surprised that my husband would be the volunteer. When I asked Mo why he wanted to do it, he simply said "to honor Stu."

May we not take one day of our earthly life for granted...We celebrate Stu and his life well lived. You were truly a blessing and we miss you greatly.

Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!”
