Home is Where the Heart Is

I went back to my hometown of Philadelphia and they say that you can never go back there again. It’s true. Long time ago, I called that city my home, but not anymore. It brought back good and bad memories, along with seeing relatives I haven’t seen in a long time. I do miss the food though. Cheesesteaks and soft pretzels. Yum. I was a kid growing up back then and as time goes by, things change. They say when you were a kid, you wanted things for a child, act like a child, and think like a child. Then when you are an adult, you put away childish things. How true, how true.

Wherever you live and call home for a certain amount of time, you grow as a person there. You may become more educated and better at work. You may mature and see things in a different way. You may become more flexible in the things you do or work harder at the things you want to accomplish. You feel a whole array of emotions. You might live in different house numerous times. But I feel that the heart only has one home and that is with God.

My heart wants to settle only in one house and that is the house of God. The heart gets nurtured and healed the best with God. When there are good times, God molds my heart to feel even greater. When there are bad times, God molds my heart to feel not so bad. Wherever you go and whatever you do, God will always be with your heart. People say that wherever you go on vacation, it is always good to be back home. Well, my heart is always at home and it is always good because God is with us. Guard your heart, it is the wellspring of life.

In Christ,
Stan Yee
