Holy Work

When you meet people, one of the first things often discussed is “what do you do?” It’s not really a question asking all the things you do (laundry, cook dinner, walk the dogs.) “What do you do?” is really a question of: how do you make a living, make money, make a difference?

Those questions can make us uncomfortable. We are more than what we do in the marketplace. Right?

God created us to work, to be co-creators with Father, Son and Holy Spirit. But sometimes we confuse what we do with who we are.

"Do not think that saintliness comes from occupation; it depends rather on what one is. The kind of work we do does not make us holy, but we may make it holy." Meister Eckhart

May we learn that everything we do is holy when God is our center. May our work and our lives be holy.

We’ll be looking for you tomorrow at 10:00 as we gather for worship. Wear what you usually wear to work!

Grace be with you,
