His Words Are Living

vThe Bible tells us that the Scriptures are alive. John calls Scripture “the word of life” (I John 1:1). Peter calls Scripture the “living and enduring word of God” (I Peter 1:23). “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edge sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).

I work for a non-profit association that provides resources and benefits to members of healthcare practices for their administrative side of their business. We have a “Body of Knowledge” we refer to for which members are tested on for Board Certification. We say this “Body of Knowledge” is all the information and experience out in the healthcare, administrative world, and it is a living collection gathered over time with new innovations and perspectives and experiences being added every day.

This reminds me of the Bible--a collection of living, adapting, and reflective words and meanings for us.

No matter how long we live, no matter how many times we read through the Bible, God will continue to speak to us through the pages of His Word. And isn’t it amazing when we reread, and it seems different and more-meaningful to us each time. Isn’t it wonderful how the Word may not seem relevant at all one day and will be like a double-edge sword penetrating our hearts the next?

Heavenly Father, thank you for knowing us individually as your special children. Thank you for providing living Words to teach us how to love unconditionally with new perspectives every day.
