His Humble Way

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Billy Graham’s death had more of an effect upon me than I anticipated. His humble way made a mark on me. May his memory be blessed among us.

“I am convinced one of the joys of heaven will be discovering the hidden ways that God, in God's sovereignty , acted in our lives on earth to protect us and guide us so as to bring glory to God's name , in spite of our frailty. As I look back  over the years , however, I know that my deepest feeling is one of overwhelming gratitude.

I can't take credit for whatever God had chosen to accomplish through us and our ministry; only God deserves the glory, and we can never thank God enough for the great things God has done.” – Billy Graham, ”Gods Hand on My Life,” Newsweek, March 29,1999,65.

My greatest advice to anyone who receives accolades from the crowd for doing God’s work is to practice gratitude and humility.  Give thanks first to God, and second to the long line of others who God used to pave a path for you. If you can do that, God will succeed within you.

Read Psalm 100 for further reflection.

Prayers: For the memory of Billy Graham and all the saints who have gone before us. Lord keep us humble and focused upon you.

Still in One Peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen
