His Guiding Hand

The book of Esther is interesting because it contains no mention of God, worship or prayer.  However, it is clear that God is controlling all of the seemingly insignificant details and coincidences that make up the plot which ultimately results in delivering the Jews from destruction and murder.  (The story of Joseph in Genesis has a similar number of events and coincidences controlled by God.)  In hindsight, most of us can probably recall a series of events that happened in our lives where, looking back, we can see the presence of the guiding hand of God.

Ephesians 1:11 says, “In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will”.

With this truth in mind, can we begin to look at our current circumstances, situations, people in our lives, etc. and know that God has brought all of this together for a reason according to his plan?  This provides hope and joy.  We live in a world where an infinitely good, wise and powerful God works everything together for the good of those who trust in him and his glory.  Amen.
