His Grand Plan

Ephesians 1:8-10 In all his wisdom and insight God did what he had purposed, and made known to us the secret plan he had already decided to complete by means of Christ. This plan, which God will complete when the time is right, is to bring all creation together, everything in heaven and on earth, with Christ as head.

Psalm 33:11 The plans of the Lord stand firm forever.

I recently read an interview from a Holocaust survivor.  He said he spent three days and nights without food or water on a train bound for Auschwitz.  When they arrived and got off the train, he grabbed an icicle hanging from the train to help quench his incredible thirst.  A camp guard saw this and knocked the icicle out of his hand.  He asked the guard why he couldn’t have the icicle and the guard replied, “there is no why at Auschwitz”.

Fortunately, as Christians we know that God has a plan and a purpose for the Bible has a lot to say about God’s plan and purpose.  With God, we know there is a “why” and it provides us with much comfort and joy.  We might not always see it or understand it, but we are certain God has a plan.  After all, His ways are not our ways.

Our plans tend to be temporary, but God’s are eternal.  We should be aware of this eternal perspective and try our best to align ourselves with the purposes of God.  When we “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness,” we align with Him and His eternal purposes.

God’s plan and purpose is to bring everything together under Christ.  Every knee will bow, every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord.

Lord we pray that you help us see our lives and our actions as part of your grand plan and live accordingly.  Amen.
