You’ve seen those pictures where at first you don’t see the hidden image, but if you look closely and someone gives you a hint, you can find another image hidden inside. This is sort of like when Jesus appeared to the disciples after his resurrection. The disciples were never really sure who it was at first, but then something happened to help them see more clearly. (John 21)

Where do we miss seeing Jesus because we’re not looking for him? Where does Jesus show up unexpectedly?

Wherever we go, Jesus is there. But we don’t always or often see him because we forget that he’s here. He’s hidden among the invisible people of our day (the homeless, the immigrant, the refugee, the poor, the different, the children, the elderly.) He’s hidden among the suffering people in our world. He’s hidden among the neighbors on our street, the people we walk past in the store and in cars with the people we sit in traffic with. He’s in our fear, uncertainty and doubt.

Christ is risen! Christ is here. May we join him in bringing new life and hope to our world that desperately needs it.

We’ll be looking for you tomorrow at 10:00 am (one service only!) We’ll share with one another where we’ve seen Jesus so that our eyes and our hearts might be opened. It won’t be the same without you.

Grace be with you,

"Jesus was the hope of the world but not the hope the world was expecting." - William H, Willimon
