He is Everywhere

It’s funny how you can meet followers of Christ at times where you wouldn’t even expect to meet them. Or maybe it just feels like it is a coincidence? I believe in times of uncertainty and fear, that’s when God brings his followers together even closer than they expect. As most of you know, there has been a pandemic that has forced us to physically distance ourselves from one another to the point where we have been cooped up in our homes for a month. It’s difficult to physically worship God without the community we are so used to worshipping with. With all of the chaos that surrounds us, it is also easy to place God on the back burner. I have found that God reaches out to us when we aren’t even looking. The hospital has been going through some serious change lately. We have reopened units that had been previously closed, moved units to different floors, and are starting to open up elective surgeries. I have been certified in the placement of IV’s via ultrasound. Whenever there are patients that require an IV, but are a hard stick, I’m usually the one called to go place one. With the whole world on my mind, I had forgotten about patience and God’s grace. I was called to go place an ultrasound IV on a patient in a neighboring unit to mine. This woman had broken both her legs up in the mountains and was requiring pain medication intravenously. As I begin to look for a vein in her arm we begin to talk about life, what happened to her, how I got into nursing, etc. etc. etc. Unbeknownst to me, my cross necklace slips out of my scrub top and she asks, “Are you a Christian? Do you follow the Lord”? I answered that I do and started to speak about my church in Highlands Ranch. I could immediately tell that God was in that room with us that night as we conversed for almost 30 minutes. On my way out of the room, she requested to pray for me and we prayed. I believe that God works in mysterious ways and has the ability to bring us together in even the most stressful times. He proves that he is everywhere, even when you don’t expect him to be.

I in them and you in me--so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. John 17:23
