Artisan, handcrafted, homemade…all seem to be buzz words in today’s culture. Whether referring to your menu choices at restaurants, clothing, and beer or really just about anything, everything seems to be somehow better, or more desirable if it is “artisan quality, hand–crafted or homemade.” We could throw in the terms house-made, homegrown, locally sourced, small batched and organic to this “buzz word” discussion and things get even better!

I wonder what God thinks about all of this trendy talk? Most likely he’s sitting back with a big smile, nodding his holy head, saying that’s how I made you, beautiful ones, children of mine! Next time you’re in a self-doubting frame of mind, just bring in some of these commonly heard adjectives of late and remember you are an artisan made, hand-crafted, one-of-a kind, child of God. And you’re perfect!

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:13-14 (NIV)
