Grow in Grace

People do grow in grace. We have all seen it. They may have become more selfless, more gentle, more generous, more forgiving. Some become more willing to be helped or stronger in the face of temptation and pain. Some learn the grace of waiting, living more patiently with mysteries and struggles they cannot quite understand. Some discover that learning to love is life's greatest fulfillment, not money or "success," position or power. And many let go of thinking they must be perfect.

When I see this in others I know I can stop trying so hard to make life and myself what I believe they ought to be. At those times I can hear Christ's gentle words, "Don't be anxious. See the lilies of the field."
