Gratitude Discovered

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Have you noticed that children are not born with a natural desire to be thankful? How does a child discover gratitude? By being taught gratitude. I recall quite vividly my mother Bev telling me such things as, ”Say thank you to the nice lady for the candy, ride, complement," or whatever kindness had come my way.

That is the way that gratitude arises. There are some experiences that you can’t have until you first learn the words for the experiences. One wonders how modern people, who say that they never have an experience of the reality of God, don’t have the experience simply because they have never heard the words of and for God. They lack a language for having more interesting experiences than those readily available to them through a modern, flat rendering of the world.

See Luke 4:14-21 for further reflection.

Prayers: For all of the federal workers who are not currently being paid. For our elected officials that they might seek the common good of all people. For the poor and the homeless. For the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.

Requests:  *Our coffee sign ups have been sluggish in 2019. As of this writing we will have no coffee this Sunday.  There is communal spiritual value in the time shared around the coffee and snacks each Sunday.

*Davis Benedict has graciously agreed to chair the GGCC Souper Bowl Sunday Team. He will be speaking in worship requesting we all bring soup to worship this week and next, to take to The Gathering Place(TGP) to be shared with the homeless.

*February 4th is “National Thank Your Mail Carrier Day.”What if every GGCC participant put a note of thanks that day in their mailbox?

*As a Missional Community we agreed by acclamation to take $1000 from the Ready to Bless (RTB) Fund to be turned into 20 $50.00 gift cards to give to Federal workers we know. If you desire a gift card to hand out, talk to Claudia Larson or Vikki Luce or an Usher at GGCC this weekend.

Let us give thanks this day through the words of Psalm 138:  The Psalms are a wonderful tool from which to gain a greater language on the reality of God in our midst.

Still in One Peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen

I'm extremely inspired with your writing skills as neatly as with the structure in your blog.

Is that this a paid theme or did you customize it your self?

Either way keep up the excellent high quality writing, it's uncommon to
see a nice weblog like this one these days..

At this time it sounds like Expression Engine is the best
blogging platform available right now. (from what I've read)
Is that what you're using on your blog?
