Got Advent?

Isaiah 45: 1-25
Advent, preparing, waiting

I am not one to necessarily sit and wait. It seems to me when I sit and wait I automatically anticipate. My mind can even wander from where I am, to where I have been, and even to where I am going. But there is something about just allowing yourself to "advent", that is to allow your thoughts to let go and let GOD...

Isaiah 45:5-6 "I am the Lord, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me, so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting people may know there is none besides me. I am the Lord, and there is no other."

There is a song from Godspell I use as a mantra or chant that reminds me what Isaiah was trying to relay to his people.
The words/verses were: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoTfOp6ADHc

"Long live GOD, long live GOD, long live GOD, long live GOD.
Prepare ye the way of the Lord, prepare ye the way of the Lord"

It would be sung first one verse then the next, then repeated and then both verses would be sung at the same time.

When I sing it now in my head I can actually do both verses at the same time and when I do, I at times can "advent," that is let go, and let GOD...

Isaiah 45:22-24 " Turn to me and be saved all you ends of the earth; for I am GOD, and there is no other. By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked: before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear. They will say of me, 'in the Lord alone are deliverance and strength.' All who have raged against him will come to him and be put to shame."

There are a lot of things going on in my life and in the lives of those around me which appear to me to prevent or to pull me from my "advent", from allowing me to concentrate on GOD around me, let alone GOD within me. And what am I left to do?

Two things:
1. Know that GOD was here before you or I, that GOD is here in and around you right now, and that GOD will be with you and every child, woman, and man for eternity. Long live GOD!
2. Know that GOD is with you whether you are prepared or not. Prepare ye the way of the Lord!

And if your mind won't "advent" then know that, "the spirit intercedes for us with sighs too deep for words to express. Yes, know in your heart, know in your bones, know in every cell in your body that, "the spirit intercedes for us with sighs too deep for words to express!" Amen!

Long live GOD, long live GOD, long live GOD, long live GOD.
Prepare ye the way of the Lord, prepare ye the way of the Lord.

Happy Advent!
