Good Friday

Words have been coming to me this week, this Holy Week, thinking about Good Friday. This day we call “good” when something that seems really bad happened. Words like:

Disappointment
Fear
Mystery
Uncomfortable
Guilt
Darkness
Wooden
Sad
Confused
Surrender
Imperfection
Shame

These words can describe feelings or behaviors that we don’t want to feel or enter into. But to follow this Jesus, we must. They often lead to places of transformation and redemption. Jesus didn’t come so we could skip over the hard parts of life. Jesus came so we can get through the hard parts. With him and with each other.

We’ll be looking for you tonight at 7 pm at Confluence Ministries, 1400 Quitman in west Denver for “The Sounds, Sights and Smells of Good Friday”. It’s the way we make Easter a real celebration.

Grace and peace,
Vikki
