God is Unstoppable!

This is the theme for our Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) this year. We will be studying the Book of Acts and the Letters of the Apostles. As a Children’s Leader, I am blessed with the opportunity to share God’s Word with the 4-5 year old’s again this year. They are little sponges, soaking in the who, where, and why of every Bible story.

In the book of Acts, we see the early church at it’s very beginning under fierce attack, but UNSTOPPABLE! It details a movement of risk takers breaking new ground and challenges in the name of Christ. It was the start of something BIG! That story is still being written in the lives of Christ’s followers today. We are a community of God’s people called to serve Him as a witness and share God’s Word with others. In Acts chapter one, Jesus promises to send the Holy Spirit, our helper and comforter, to fill each of us with His presence giving us the power to guide others to His truth. When I hear/read the word ‘witness’, I think of the ‘special’ people God calls to be preachers/teachers/missionaries in other places. It makes it easier to put that ‘calling’ on someone else.

I’m sure that the Apostle Paul in the book of Acts will show me that we, each of us, are to be a witness of Christ in every walk of our life. With the power of the Holy Spirit, I can be  a witness even in the bumper to bumper traffic on I-25, the unending line at the concession stand (for soda, of course), or even with a miserable defeat at Mike High Stadium!  Sounds like a real challenge!

The Holy Sprit will EMPOWER each of us to be what we must be—a witness for Christ!
