God is Speaking

Have you heard from God lately? Has God phoned, emailed or texted?

No?

I always wish for God to speak in literal and profound ways, with words I can understand and hold on to.

Like in Luke 3:21-22 where we read, “Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heaven was opened, and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased.”

Now that’s what I’m talking about!

And yet, God is speaking to us when we read those words. Oh yeah.

God speaks, but it seems only when I slow down enough to clear out all the noise. God speaks when I make room. God speaks when I intentionally listen.

I may not be able to tell you concrete words, sentences or paragraphs that God spoke. But when conversations go smoothly, when others accept what I have to offer, when relationships flourish, when I can stay non-anxious in a frenetic world, or when creativity seems to flow…I realize that...

God is speaking into my life.

And that turns out to be far better than a phone call, email or text.

We’ll be looking for you tomorrow at 9:00 or 10:30 a.m. as we gather to listen to the voice of God together.

Grace be with you,
Vikki
