Glorious Unfolding

Having grown up the daughter of a Pastor, I have been exposed to life and death since a very young age. I was raised with a strong Faith that there is life after death and so most times I am at peace with it all. A few weeks ago, the reality of my job of working at an outpatient infusion center set in. Since starting this position in January, I have seen many patients survive their illness, many fight to maintain life and even a few have passed away. Each patient I meet has a place in my heart, and each tugs at the heart strings in a different way.

As reality was setting in one day I happened to be channel surfing on the radio. A song I had never heard before caught my attention. I heard the words "glorious unfolding." After searching those key words on YouTube, I learned that the song is "Glorious Unfolding" by Steven Curtis Chapman. If you haven't heard it, I encourage you to give it a try.

At some time or another, we all wonder how we got to be where we are. It is not always how we had planned it. But one thing is for sure, we are where we are to be in God's time. Each step of our life, each step of our journey is a piece to our "Glorious Unfolding."

This year I had the wonderful opportunity of spending Father's Day with my family. It has been a year since the four of us have been together. The weekend was made even more special as we celebrated the many wonderful years my Father has been a Pastor. On Father's Day he preached his last sermon in front of his current congregation. He and my mom now will experience a new journey, as they navigate the world of retiement, they will experience a "Glorious Unfolding."

Somehow God knew just what I needed the day I heard a new song. He always has a way of giving us what we need. We just have to have Faith. We have to hold on to the Promises that he has given us and know that our life is still yet unfolding.

Many good-byes were experienced this last weekend. We experience good-byes daily. We are comforted in knowing that God is with us. 2 Corinthians 13:11-13 says "Finally, brothers and sisters, farewell. Put things in order, listen to my appeal, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the saints greet you. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you." (NRSV)

As I close I share with you the words of the chorus of "God Be With You Till We Meet Again", written by Jeremiah Rankin. Whether our time apart is here on this Earth and for a short while, or our time apart is of a Heavenly Nature, God be with you …

Till we meet, till we meet,                                                                                                                                        Till we meet at Jesus' feet;                                                                                                                                      Till we meet, till we meet,                                                                                                                                        God be with you till we meet again.

Dear Heavenly Father. Thank you for the events in our lives that lead to our Glorious Unfolding. Thank you for those that become a part of our lives for however long that may be and the promise that we will one day be together. In your name we pray, Amen.
