Giving, Giving and More Giving

“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” Proverbs 11:25 (NIV)

In a world in which so many people focus on personal gain, this Bible verse about giving offers another perspective; gratitude is an opportunity for the giver to both prosper and be refreshed.

Perhaps you have experienced or will experience a similar “situation” to what Scott and I are consumed with lately. We are in the process of moving Scott’s parents into an assisted living home. –from 2,800 square feet to 680. With so many decisions and tasks and plans and re-plans, this is a little emotionally and physically tiring. –just a tad! 😊

When I try to lighten up the mood, I tell Scott, “honey, this is why we are alive right now” – “and this gives us a chance to practice our persuasion skills”. We laugh and keeping moving—all’s good! God reminds us:

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God will bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:6-8

Heavenly Jesus, keep showing us how giving and taking care of others is all part of your design and show us what we encounter is nothing compared to how you gave your life for us and how you take care of us every second of every day. Amen.
