Give Us the Wisdom

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

John's Gospel begins with such high sounding poetic talk about, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was made flesh, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” It sounds very beautiful and poetic. But then when that Word –made –flesh got to talking, began moving about the world, reaching out to untouchables, healing the sick, rebuking the rich and powerful, raising the dead, upsetting the authorities, well, then many people thought they could see God just a little too well! God got so close to us in Jesus that we got a good look at God and we didn’t like what we saw!

So we put Christ to death on a cross. We were determined to keep our religion “vague,”  indefinable, and soft, even if we had to crucify Jesus to do it! And we did. But then we learned on Easter that he was not only Word made flesh but also eternal life. He was the God who would not be defeated by death.

Come Lord Jesus to the hardship of our pandemic time! Give us the strength to take our place with you. Give us the wisdom to follow in your way.

See John 14:1-4 for further reflection.

I hope to see all of you at “The Well” tonight at 6pm.

Peter Mayor and his band are doing a benefit concert for the artists in the band this Friday night at 6pm online.

See the God's Grace Community Church web site for details on these ministry opportunities as well as others.

Prayers: For all mothers...

Still in One Peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen
